Getting Started

Who can sell on Farmoury?

Any individual or business that produces food locally and is legally registered to sell it in the UK. Farms, smallholdings, market gardens, artisan bakers, cheesemakers, beekeepers, and similar producers are all welcome. You need to comply with the food safety and hygiene rules that apply to your products.

I'm a smallholder, can I sell on here?

Yes, absolutely. You don't need to be a large commercial farm. If you're producing food legally and have the appropriate registrations in place, Farmoury is built for you too.

I make artisan bread / jams / honey — can I list my products?

Yes. Farmoury isn't only for farms — bakeries, beekeepers, preserve makers, cheesemakers, and similar producers are very much part of what we're building. If you make food locally, you belong here.

How does signing up work?

Registration has three steps. First you create your producer account. Then you complete Stripe Connect onboarding — this is how you receive payment for your sales. Finally you fill in your business details. Once that's done you can start listing products straight away.

When is it launching?

We're signing up producers and collection points now ahead of launch. Register your interest and we'll be in touch as we get closer to going live in your area.

Money and Payments

How much do I keep from each sale?

85%. Farmoury takes 15% which covers the platform and payment processing. You set your own prices and that 15% is deducted automatically — there are no hidden extras on top of it.

What percentage does Farmoury take?

15%, which includes the payment processing fees. You keep 85% of every sale at the price you set. No separate card processing charge on top.

When do I get paid?

When a customer places and pays for an order, that payment is held by Stripe against your account. Stripe then pays out to your bank account on their standard UK schedule — typically weekly for UK accounts. So you're not waiting to be paid after drop-off; the money is already allocated to you when the order is confirmed, it just reaches your bank on Stripe's payout cycle. You can check your balance and history in your Stripe dashboard at any time.

Why do I need a Stripe account?

Stripe is how Farmoury splits each payment automatically — your share goes directly to you without us holding it. It's the industry standard for marketplace payments and means the money goes where it should, quickly and securely. Without a verified Stripe account your products won't be visible to customers.

What does Stripe sign-up involve?

Stripe will ask for your business details, identity verification for the account holder, and your UK bank account. It takes around 5 to 10 minutes and you do it directly with Stripe — we never see your banking information.

Is there a cost to list on Farmoury?

No upfront cost. You pay nothing to join or list products. The 15% commission only applies when you actually make a sale.

Is 15% better than what a supermarket takes?

Considerably. Supermarkets typically take 30–50% or more, and they dictate the price. On Farmoury you set your own price and keep 85p of every pound a customer pays you.

Listing Your Products

What can I sell?

Vegetables, fruit, meat and poultry, dairy, fish and seafood, eggs, honey, grains, baked goods, preserves and jams, herbs and spices, beverages, and more. If you grow it or make it locally, there's a place for it on Farmoury.

Do I set my own prices?

Yes, entirely. Farmoury doesn't set or cap your prices. You know what your produce is worth — you set the price, and customers see exactly what they're paying and who they're buying from.

Can I run special offers or discounts?

Yes. Each listing supports a special offer price alongside the standard price. You can turn offers on and off from your dashboard whenever you like — useful for moving seasonal gluts quickly.

Can I mark my products as organic, free range, or grass fed?

Yes. Each listing lets you declare organic, pasture raised, free range, and grass fed status. Customers can filter by these, so being accurate helps the right buyers find you.

Can I save a listing as a draft before publishing?

Yes. Listings can be saved in draft mode and published when you're ready. Drafts are not visible to customers.

How do I manage stock?

You set a stock quantity on each listing and update it as needed. When stock hits zero the item shows as out of stock. Keeping quantities accurate matters — overselling means orders you can't fulfil, which isn't good for your reputation with local customers.

Orders and Delivery

Do I have to deliver the orders myself?

Yes. Producers are responsible for packing orders and bringing them to the collection points they supply. Farmoury doesn't have its own logistics or driver service. You manage your own transport — so choosing collection points that are actually reachable from your farm is important.

Which collection points do I supply?

You choose. From your dashboard you can browse registered collection points and select the ones you're willing and able to supply. Your products then appear to customers browsing those locations. You can add or remove collection points at any time.

How do I know what orders I have to fulfil?

Your producer dashboard has an orders view showing all paid orders that include your products — what was ordered, how many, which collection point to bring it to, and the current status. You'll also be notified when a new order comes in.

How do I label my orders?

From your orders view you can print a label for each order. It includes the order details, the collection point name, and a QR code. Labels print on standard Avery label sheets from a home or office printer. The collection point uses that QR code to confirm receipt when you drop it off.

What happens when I drop the order off?

You bring the packed, labelled order to the collection point. Someone there scans the QR code on your label to confirm it's arrived. That updates the customer's tracking and lets them know their order is ready. Your job is done at that point.

What are my food safety responsibilities?

You're fully responsible for making sure your products comply with all relevant UK food safety and hygiene law — including local authority registration, correct labelling, allergen information, and temperature control during packing and transport. Farmoury doesn't inspect producers or certify products. Listing on Farmoury doesn't replace your own legal obligations.

Can I see how my sales are performing?

Yes. Your dashboard includes sales analytics — total revenue, number of orders, best-selling products, and performance by collection point. Low-stock alerts are also shown so you can stay on top of inventory.
